Advanced Dental Technology Tallahassee

Achieving Lasting Results Using the Latest Technology

Providing patients with the highest quality of dentistry is a lifelong commitment that involves staying up-to-date with and implementing the latest advanced technology within the practice. Our team at Boyd & Walther Tallahassee Dental Associates is dedicated to providing our patients with outstanding results every time, which is why we implement devices like our intraoral camera and digital X-rays for precise diagnoses and treatment planning. You can learn more about these pieces of advance dental technology in Tallahassee below.

Intraoral Camera

During dental checkups, it can be frustrating to not be able to see and understand what your dentist is seeing as they peer inside your mouth. That’s why we regularly use advanced intraoral cameras as a helpful educational tool here at Boyd & Walther Tallahassee Dental Associates! A camera-tipped wand transmits high-resolution images to a convenient monitor in the exam room, providing a visual aid that helps our team point out specific areas of damage, more clearly explain the effects of certain treatment options, and allow us to present you with a visual reference for any diagnoses we make.

Digital Dental X-Rays

In the not-so-distant past, traditional X-rays were heavily relied on for the valuable information they could provide regarding dental problems that existed beyond the surface of the smile – but they came with several pitfalls as well, including long darkroom development times and potentially harmful radiation exposure.

Today, we’re proud to feature state-of-the-art digital radiography in our modern dental office as a much-improved alternative. Now, your X-rays are immediately available for viewing after capture, and they can be easily color-coded or magnified for extra clarification. Radiation exposure is also reduced by up to 80%, which makes them much safer for our patients.

Digital Dental Impressions

Instead of using gag-inducing putty to capture impressions to create restorations, we utilize our iTero digital impression system. Similar to our intraoral camera, our digital impression system is shaped like a wand and has a small camera at the tip of it. The camera captures and creates a digital blueprint of your oral structure, including your teeth and gums, which we can then transfer to either our Invisalign laboratory to craft your orthodontic aligners or our dental lab to make oral appliances and restorations.
