If there is any swelling, you can apply a cold compress.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Swelling of the Jaw <\/strong>\u2013 For swelling, ibuprofen addresses the inflammation and provides pain relief. You can also apply a cold compress to the area.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Large Object Stuck Between Teeth <\/strong>\u2013 To dislodge something stuck between your teeth, you can try flossing carefully.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Injury to Gums or Other Soft Tissue <\/strong>\u2013 If you have bleeding or an injury to any of the soft tissue in your mouth, try gently biting down on a cotton gauze to stop the flow. If the bleeding persists for more than 10 minutes, then you should head to the emergency room immediately.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Emergencies That Require Fast Action<\/h2>\n<p>If you suspect that you\u2019ve broken your jaw, go immediately to your local emergency room. If you have a dislodged tooth, that\u2019s also a very time-sensitive matter, because you have between two and six hours to have the tooth reinserted successfully.<\/p>\n<h2>Dental Emergencies aren\u2019t the End of the World<\/h2>\n<p>If you find yourself in a dental emergency, it\u2019s important to remember not to panic.
